First of all. I started adding mesh to the wreath work. It’s simple, collect the end of the mesh and place it on the working wreath between two wire twigs. Twist the twigs around the gauze. One turn is enough.

Then I moved the roll of mesh down about 14″, gathered it up again and secured it to the working wreath form with wire twigs. I continued the same process all the way around the inner ring and outer ring of the working wreath form.

I took the curly gauze and attached it to the working wreath with wire twigs in each area. I just twisted the branches a bit to hold the mesh in place as I’ll come back and add ribbon to the top.

Then I cut the two ribbons into 12″ pieces with “duck tail” ends. I cut 22 pieces from each ribbon so I would have one for each wire branch in the working wreath shape.

I stack the two ribbons on top of each other, place them on the curled mesh and twist the branches around them. I put a ribbon around the wreath on each twig of wire.

I love this. I felt really crafty that day and decided to make some accessories myself. This is what I’ve used:

Wire garland is a versatile product that can be found in most flower departments. I used white with iridescent glitter. I bent the garland into a flower shape and then took the tube and formed a smaller flower shape and placed it on top. I secured the two shapes together with a piece of wire garland.

To hide where the two flowers meet, I cut shamrocks out of foam paper.

I think it’s a nice and quirky flower. I wanted to have one of those unique things that you find in every craft store. I have enough material to make 3 flowers. They are easy to attach to the wreath. I just ran the garland wire through the mesh and wrapped it around the work wreath frame

The “homemade” flowers gave the wreath a 3D effect that added even more whimsy. The finishing touch was the “Happy St. Patrick’s Day” sign I just attached to the wreath frame with floral wire.

Have fun and make your own. The kids will love it and it will make you smile every time 🙂 which means we are both more stubborn than the other. Don’t ask me how. Therefore…) So of course we celebrate our heritage on St. Patrick’s Day, and what better way to liven up our celebration than with a fun and festive wreath?

How To Make A Shamrock Wreath

You should know that I have an addiction to making interchangeable ornaments. I mean, why have decorations that are good for just one holiday when you can have decorations that are good for MANY holidays? This saves a lot of time, money and storage space! My main interchangeable piece of jewelry is my crown. I use the exact same wreath shape for every holiday and just change the accessories. You can check out previous versions below!

I love having a new wreath for each holiday and finding creative ways to put everything on it so it can come out easily for the next holiday. After St. Patrick’s Day, everything comes right out of the wreath and I can make a new wreath with the same wreath shape. That’s why I use clips and pins to put everything on the wreath.

This wreath took a little longer to make than my previous wreaths, but it was so worth it. I think this is one of my favorites. I know, I say that every time I make a new wreath, but that’s because I really love every wreath!

If you decide to make your own St. Patrick’s Day, don’t be afraid to get creative when shopping for craft supplies. You don’t need the exact same supplies to make your own beautiful wreath. My “pot” is actually a little black bucket that I got from Target. It’s much cheaper to buy the bucket than a bona fide St. Patrick’s Day jar (which is really overpriced at this time of year, by the way). Anyway I don’t care if I find a bucket or pot, if it’s full of gold I’ll take it, right?!

I admit, my leprechaun hat cost less than I wanted to spend, but it was so perfect I couldn’t pass it up. And I thought I had saved so much on the rest of the wreath that I could spend a little on the hat. It’s basically a hair accessory so it comes with a clip and everything. How perfect is that for my replaceable crown? It is as it was intended! How can I fight?

To save some money I made gold coins instead of buying them because I had no expenses – I had all the materials
